The second is to utilize xinerama which will allow you to have 3 separate X screens which will function as one large display. this content The secret it would appear, is to go into the pre-boot bios set-up utility and select "advanced" graphics mode. As described above, I was able to improve the second problem by running Gnome 3.8, but was only able to achieve a truly usable experience with Fedora 19 (Again, YMMV). The hardware is harder, as there I am out about $500 to solve this issue. $200 for premium support and about $300 for the difference in cost between the T540p and the w541.

On my work laptop for example (a Lenovo T430), I see this: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1600 x 900, maximum 32767 x 32767 LVDS1 connected primary 1600x900+0+0

I don't see any signs of any nVidia hardware. t=18402722I would discount the tomshardware post as being false (reason: allquixotic's post -- I am familiar with his/her postings and would consider them a reliable source). The older Bumblebee project provides per-program off-loading of 3D rendering, equivalent to the xrandr --setprovideroffloadsink command, but more limited in that only the Intel GPU can off-load to the NVidia GPU.
