Last night, I was working on it doing some graphics work and the screen went dark. You need to either replace the bezel with one that has a tight spring, or do a little constructive bending to get the spring to push the button up enough to Check your manual or download it under Lenovo support. I have to change the brightness and turn the light off and on again with the key FN+F6.
I have mine on the lowest setting and find it to be perfect.
The color on my screen is not as bright as it once was, and fluctuates between being brighter and dimmer.
Hit the "Windows" key, between fn and alt keys, along with the X key, and a nice little window pops up with the control.
Like the animations glitch, this too uses iOS' deep accessibility features to pull off the job.

If you have replaced the inverter board but still experience the same issue, there could be many different reasons.
Just for the fun of it I went back to power options and click on the "change plan settings" for power saver, went in and altered the plugged in settings (adjust Lift up the bottom part of the bezel and remove one screw securing the inverter board to the LCD cover. Now 9 months later the backlight flickers or goes out altogether (if the screen is wide opened, the flicker will stop and the screen stays on). It's default brightness is too high as I loading in the desktop, so each time I have to lower down it by using ctrl-end manually. Make sure the lid close button is not stuck inside the laptop case. Even if I bought a defective inverter I don't think the problem would be identical. Unplug cables on both sides. It's possible the video cable connector on the back of the screen is loose.
