This thread was pretty much the only helpful bit of info I could find online but ultimately I found my solution was different.I had to open the laptop to clean out Then I noticed that the modem cable's isolation has a 2-3 mm slot and some of the wires inside are stripped. The original problem was caused by a pinched cable.
If the ribbon cable is loose that is the problem.
With the screw out, it functions.

Not sure if that is related but it certainly seems fishy given the potential power problems and proximity.
I did hope that maybe it would, since it was the driver installed by Lenovo's System Update, and Lenovo's other update tool Lenovo Drivers Management did not find a more recent
I also find a touchpad regularly thinks I'm pinching to zoom when the only time I use that gesture is when I'm using Google Maps. I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 and had a minor driver issue which I decided to talk with a support rep about before I did something on my own. But, I don't think it will help, becase under Windows 10, I have tried several different versions of the driver, all with the same result. The only solution as I see is it to type with one's hands "in the air"...so as to keep away from the laptops mouse!!! I just can't figure out what the problem would be. Also, it doesn't line up perfectly with that screw, so I'm not sure about this theory. In my personal opinion they are top shelf. This is not exactly scientific but I tested it twenty times or so: whenever the screw under the RAM slot (which is one of the screws necessary to remove the keyboard)
