We use this laptop for example as a general use system, so we'll use it, put it in a cabinet for a month, then when a meeting or whatever comes up So in my case, the machine connected to my cable box will be staying on Windows 8.1 indefinitely (although there are some good WMC alternatives). As much as I may disparage Microsoft, I will not steal from them. Firstly, Start menu should have transparency (the same as on the taskbar) cause it's ugly. Source
It takes me exactly 4 seconds from pushing the button to a logged on, usable system. jdwii Great article and i agree with all of these. I am noticing that while transcoding with Handbrake, my CPU usage is all over the place in a predictable rhythm (about every 3 seconds or so it drops to about 50% I can highly recommend Hyper-V, it's better than VirtualBox and completely integrated in Windows.
What can I do? What are you using, a 2005 Dell? Having launched the Metro UI, I guess they feel they have to continue to shoehorn it on to my desktop, even though I've no interest in Metro apps on my computer. Riiiiiight… chojin999 More silly pathetic lies bashing Windows 7 … xReWxpilau Jesus, aren't you butthurt?
In the preview, the full list of apps is displayed across the entire screen rather than in a small list. First off is that my start menu icons won't appear fr the correct program (see attached picture) Second is that my desktop icon size always resets on a restart. Secondly, the Menu similar to Alt+Tab and Virtual desktop seem very confusing. http://www.cardinalphoto.com/ David Cardinal I do miss Aero.

I was a little wary of it as being something else new, and which may break things further, but I have to say it's a success. I use the Start Bar… I've looked at them side by side and Win 10 SUCKS graphically… And EDGE has no edge which REALLY weirds me out… Sean Ada lol ‘power
I am going to open up my review with the following statement, Windows 7 having been the flagship for myself and many other users before the next step of computing evolved

I exported the new user's "Folders" from the registry and ran that back in my own zone.
I apologize in advance if this is too obvious, but if the solution to the problem is a new profile, why not Fab's backup the user data, delete the user profile
Better done at the start.
I am a bit of a neat freak.
We are having the issue where the start menu appears with all the correct items but normal windows application won't be clickable but the Windows 10 UWP work fine.
Also, I think the graphics design world is off on this minimalist kick again.
Without having to use another vendors vm software for compatibility.
If that turns out true, you'll end up venting impotently in a blog…oh wait, you didn't wait for that here. ;) That said? Edit: Seeing that we can pin the trash can to the task bar, The ability to remove it from the desktop would be awesome. Nathan Butcher I always thought that the task bar was the place to organize the live tiles, not the Start menu. and lot of program dosn't work properly, windows 7 is much better than windows 8 and 9 and 10 .!!!
I really wish they'd add a bit more functionality, as Explorer hasn't changed much since the Windows 95 days. this contact form Vista General TRANSPARENT GLASS MENU IN CLASSIC WINDOWS START MENUCan anyone please tell me if its possible to get the transparent glass menu effect in classic windows start menu? Then go one step further and realize that the desktop is simply a cover to hide the Windows 8 start menu to work in a windowed desktop environment, and not full It would jump to 99% and stay there untill done.
I can re-install them as many times as I want, on any machine that I want, so long as I only have 3 machines running Win 7. Strangely, a few glitches that you'd think would have been fixed persist. This again is trying to make evrything I do on the desktop as shared as possible. have a peek here Sign in here.
I have no need to have Microsoft collecting info and force feeding me advertising like Google does. What you're talking about is an "enthusiast," not a "power user." BaronMatrix No, that would mean I have the highest level GPU, etc… I mean I have A LOT of software This will fix most issues.
Anything that needed power, as in battery-eating, was shown the door. Check This Out i have played with process priority in task manager, setting it from the default ‘below normal' at every step up to real-time.
Because the default icon height is 138... Purple-Stater I'm totally with this. One thing we did notice it happened if two machines were logged in at the same time and that's where the start menu would break. Make sure that the previous version is activated before upgrade attempt.
Allow the scan to run — it may take some time — and restart your computer after it’s complete.
