Since the static only is happening occasionally, what equipment is in use when this happens? Yesterday, If I plugged in any headphones into my laptop I'd get a kind of static/crackling noise. Most static/cackling is due to an improper grounding, or a faulty plug. Check each speaker cable for broken, cracked or damaged insulation. I don't have much knowledge in hardware and whatnot so I really appreciate your answers. This happens to me sometimes too and I don't even have a keyboard connected.
