You can create a system image of your computer's hard drive, swap the drive out for an SSD, and then restore that image to the SSD. They are not both called "Programs" though, E: is called "Programs" but C: is called "Local Disk". Come on Microsoft. You can just search for "backup" in the Control Panel to find it. In the File History control panel that appears, look in the lower left corner. Thankfully - there will always be third party tools.

Go check your email! The only automated backup that cover programs and files, can restore to a different PC and doesn't slow the computer (that I could find) is Zinstall Backup.

If I remove the plug from the old disk, when do I do that exactly? The same copy is also in external harddrive and it doesn't find that either...
