It solved for me. Both have the Driver Version 6.2.9200.16384 dated 6/21/2006. This SanDisk drive seems to have its own non-Intel built-in controller that plays by its own rules. There is something seriously wrong with Win 8 in the SSD/HDD department, and I'm still amazed that they haven't fixed it yet.
I've formated the same computer 3 times before finding this post.
Note: You may have multiple SATA interfaces on your MB that are run by different controllers.

Worse yet, I have experienced the infamous hanging/freezing issue that was supposedly fixed during the testing phases of Windows 8. As with my wife's laptop I am going to add in the local sign in and see will this make a difference!!! The Asus Z170-K was a problem \Device\RaidPort0. It works perfectly fine now. Not everybody is on Reddit and not everybody can repair it. I also disabled windows update through services.msc - so it doesn't try a sneak update on me. Sorry to ask, but I like to clear up any of the basics.
What a freakin' mess this OS is - why the heck did they release it with all these bugaboos! Although something interesting to note is the initial startup, after the update has finished, works fine for me...
