I went to download Lenovo Settings from the Windows store and had to create a windows account for authention. I also installed fingerprint reader's driver, but when I tried to setup my fingerprints an error was displayed: Cannot communicate with sensor. If a biometric option does not exist in your BIOS, then the fingerprint reader is always enabled.
Or is this just the usual problems from NOT doing a clean Windows installation but an Upgrade instead - this laptop still plays Win7 boot tones while booting Win10 - I
guess the driver that Windows loads is not compatible with the Lenovo fingerprint software.

What you did is the way to get it working in Windows 10, although I think preboot authentication for BIOS passwords probably doesn't work.

If you have this version of driver already , and it's not working, then my next suggestion is to clear the fingerprint data in BIOS: 1.
