Ideally, that would be a friend/relatives house where you would need a security code to connect to their network. reboot your router, then your laptop in that order, job done, wireless will remain steady. Most routers are compatible with Windows 7 but I know for sure some of the older dlink routers were NOT compatible. Once you router sees the device on the network, try it out and make sure it functions before moving on to the next device.

To get started, you need to figure out the IP address of your router and use that to log in via a browser.
I'm not much for coincidences so if your network connectivity issues started after you installed your new torrent software, I think that would be an excellent place to start.
In this instance you'd have to disable the old Dell stuff (or get an update - see above) and let Windows alone control the wireless adapter.

This happened over 3 different ISPs, and 5 different wireless routers (a couple of Netgears, Belkin, a couple of LinkSys').
I had Windows 8.1 prior to the upgrade, and I never saw the issue before upgrading. This was a fresh install, not an upgrade, so this issue (in my case, at least) has nothing to do with an upgrade. You are always taking a chance when you update the firmware on any device. Could you please keep us updated on what lenovo says?

Clicked on Network settings and it said Wireless adapter disabled and then as I watched it re-enabled and re-connected. It was crappy, sure, but at least the WIFI worked. Most desktop PCs do NOT come with wireless connectivity. I found this solution in one of the last posts in this thread.
